HR McMaster does not seem to know that the revered Muslim scholars tell us that Jihad means: Holy War

HR McMaster is telling us that jihad is about peace and the bogus inner struggle when the revered Islamic scholars back then and now tell us that jihad only means holy war I wonder why would he reach such conclusion? And did it cross his mind that Mr Enein the author of the book (see link below) is either a liar or ignorant in regard to the meaning of the word jihad And I suspect that Mr Enein is not telling the truth because he must be aware that in his native language Egyptian Arabic the word الجهادية or al-Gehadiyya means compulsory military service and it has nothing to do with some bogus inner struggle

For the readers: This is what the revered Ibn Taymiyya wrote about the bogus hadith of the greater and smaller jihad:

اما الحديث الذي برويه بعضهم انه قال في غزوة تبوك رجعنا من الجهاد الاصغر الى الجهاد الاكبر فلا اصل له ولم يروه احد من اهل المعرفة باقوال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وافعاله انتهى

About this hadith (the hadith of the bigger and smaller jihad) that is being narrated by some that he (Muhammad) said in the invasion of Tabuk we returned from the smaller jihad (fighting) to the bigger jihad (the so called inner struggle) has no basis and it was not narrated by anyone from the people of knowledge (al-mufasereen and al-Ulama) in (regard to) the saying of Muhammad may Allah prays upon him and his actions. End

And the modern and revered al-Sheikh al-Albani said the following about the same hadith

ولم ترد كلمة الجهاد ومشتقاتها في القران الكريم الا لمعنى قتال المشركين وامنافقين

And the word al-jihad and its derivatives in the Qur'an only means FIGHTING the polytheists and the hypocrites

It is really in black and white: The word Jihad means Holy War
