Not the Exact Expression But CloseReader comment on item: A White House Initiative to Defeat Radical Islam Submitted by Dajjal (United States), Mar 11, 2017 at 01:54 I put your question to Yahoo! and found these bits: "We are engaged today, as General George C. Marshall's generation was engaged, against enemies who pose a great threat to all civilized peoples. As our World War II generation defeated Nazi Fascism and Japanese imperialism, and as later generations defeated Communist totalitarianism, we will defeat today's enemies, including terrorist organizations like Daesh, who cynically use a perverted interpretation of religion to incite hatred and justify horrific cruelty against innocents." — Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, speech to Virginia Military Institute, Center for Leadership and Excellence, November 21, 2016 https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/02/nsa-mcmaster-islamic-state-uses-perverted-interpretation-of-religion The adviser, Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, told the staff of the National Security Council on Thursday, in his first "all hands" staff meeting, that the label "radical Islamic terrorism" was not helpful because terrorists are "un-Islamic," according to people who were in the meeting. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/24/us/politics/hr-mcmaster-trump-islam.html A source that has asked to remain anonymous informs me of being present in August 2014 when McMaster was the featured speaker for the President's Lecture Series at National Defense University. McMaster addressed an assembly of all the students in the colleges of the National Defense, including the National War College, the College of International Security Affairs (CISA), the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (formerly the Industrial College of the Armed Forces), and the others. No transcript or video is publicly available, but there was a large crowd and multiple witnesses. In his address, McMaster reportedly said: "The Islamic State is not Islamic." https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/2017/02/22/general-mcmaster-in-2014-islamic-state-is-not-islamic/ " who cynically use a perverted interpretation of religion" If ISS is terrorist, then by his definition, it ain't Islamic.
