A nice essay describing Islamic attitude and doctrineReader comment on item: A White House Initiative to Defeat Radical Islam Submitted by Prashant, Jun 27, 2017 at 14:49 Dear Dr Pipes, In the context of whether Islam needs reforms, I stumbled upon this simple but insightful essay by David Wood. I think your Muslim and non-Muslim readers will like to read this essay http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/opinion/columns/story/2015/oct/04/wood/328261/ One striking thing that I noted in the essay is the interaction between the author and his Muslim friend in college. While the author was making a sincere effort to understand Islam during his college education, his friend was trying to draw the author to Islam. This is a behavior that we see all around us. Modern non-Muslim humans for the most part have moved toward the goal of developing mutual understanding and finding commonality between their religions. The adherents of Islamic religion for the most part are focused upon praising, defending and advancing Islam. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
