Q5:21-27 explained by al-Tabari part 2/2Reader comment on item: Why Palestinians Need an Israel Victory Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Mar 31, 2018 at 09:08 To remind the readers: If you read the Qur'an without reading the great commentaries by al-Mufasereen the likes of al-Tabari you will not be able to understand what the text is saying. Reason? To be blunt the Qur'an is poor literature period! The author does not explain anything and the Mufasereen come the rescue. But to add insult to injury those early Mufasereen were not Arabs They were Iranians the likes of al-Tabari who is really Allah's editor in-chief! The very sophisticated Persian al-Tabari must have been horrified when he was trying to explain what the Qur'an is really saying Notice that if he writes: اِخْتَلَفَ أَهْل التَّأْوِيل (you will find it in the text of his tafsir of Q5:21) or "And al-Mufasereen did not agree" it means that no one has a clue what the text is saying. And usually al-Tabari selects one choice and it becomes the one accepted by Muslims today and indeed he seems to favor: دمشق وفلسطين وبعض الاردن or Damascus, PALESTINE, and Parts of Jordan So who lives in Damascus, Palestine and Jordan? Syrians and Palestinians Right? Now Q5:22 can be rendered as: They (the Jews) said: O Moses truly there are brutal (very well explained in Tafsir al-Tabari) people (Palestinians and Syrians?) and we (the Jews) will not enter it (the holy land) until they (Palestinians and Syrians?) leave it If they (Palestinians and Syrians?) leave it (the holy land) then we enter This is very clear that the author is saying that the Jews should enter the holy land and get the present inhabitants to leave the holy land Here is a link to tafsir al-Tabari of this verse http://quran.ksu.edu.sa/tafseer/tabary/sura5-aya22.html Now I will go back and provide you with a word translation of Q5:21: ياقوم ادخلوا الارض المقدسة التي كتب الله لكم Or: O people (the Jewish people and these are Moses' words) enter the holy land which Allah assigned to you In the second part of the verse it says: وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ Or: And don't turn on your rear ends (turn back) then you will be losers So the author is really saying that the Jews should not run away and should enter the holy land! How would this happen? Stay tuned for my reading of Q22-27 Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
