Dear Mr. HallReader comment on item: Why Palestinians Need an Israel Victory Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Jun 13, 2018 at 06:43 Dear Mr. Hall, I am afraid you too have come up with wrong conclusions with regards to Israel and Palestinians. Israel does have a very powerful military and it at the moment occupies West Bank. However as the recent incidents in Gaza point out, the Palestinians there simply have nothing to lose. Just look at people like Nasrallah or Hamas leaders. They are ready to sacrifice even their own sons' lives just to have the right to live in a life full of dignity. Israel have thrown everything that she could at Gaza including bombs, crippling sanctions and Israel has done everything without caring for the Gazans' lives as we just observed during recent clashes. Yet Israel has not been able to stop the Palestinians from dreaming about the right of return. Actually I would say that the position of the Palestinians' are very much alike the Zionists of 1910-s like Theodore Herzl. They like Herzl never gave up the dream of a sovereign right in the holy land despite tremendous suffering. Israel on the other hand has got everything to lose. Because she has a military and a modern economy so she has everything to lose when it comes to the current situation. Is not it ironical that the Israelis who have everything that they need under the sun, are cowering in fear of unarmed women and children protesting non-violently for their right of return ? So you see the situation now. Israel has got everything to lose and the Palestinians have absolutely nothing to lose. And what is Israel's answer to this ? Just create a wall for herself and hide inside the Ghetto and shoot every one who comes nearby. This is the reaction of a person in fear not of a person who is confident and winning. Have you ever thought why Israel despite putting all the military pressure against the Palestinians cannot force them to surrender their dreams of right of return ? It is simple. You cannot put fear in the people who have nothing to fear but fear itself. So I again repeat my assertion that there is no military solution to the current conflict between Israel and Palestinians. There is only one solution. It is a bi-national state modeled upon post-apartheid South Africa. Submitting....
