It is Truce & Not Dhimmitude

Dhimmitude was the second self-choice of the second option, whereby non-muslims chose by their free will to be administered by the Islamic State. As the Zakat tax did not apply to the non-muslims, so a Dhimi Tax was applicable to them to fund the costs of administration & taking care of their poor. This has been amalgamated in value added tax & social security tax now.

Truce was the first self-choice of the second option, to regulate the rights & maintain peace, & cordial relationship. This is the most applicable now after the formation of the UN which regulates the world rights & relations globally.

This was to when Muslims to deliver God's Aproved Message of the Path-to-His-Paradise to the humanity at large, had first to liberate people from oppression & tyranny of the local rulers who considered themselves as local gods, the opposing army refused the delivery of God's Message of Peace & Eternal Bliss to the people under its control & chose the 3rd & last option, the last resort allowed by God, of dual by sword to determine the outcome of the contest.

The wise ones chose the first option provided by God to join his Islam & join the group to His Paradise. Those who were not blessed with foresight, chose other options depending upon the type of their personalities. Some were not convinced of the truth & some were shortsighted - they did not think beyond today to tomorrow, some had other ulterior motives or reasons.
