Dallas JewryReader comment on item: L.A.'s Thwarted Terror Spree Submitted by RHS (United States), Sep 6, 2005 at 16:54 I have to disagree with your statements (via link in article to: http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/500) that the Jewish community here in Dallas is "anxious" and that "It was just a few years ago that American Jews met openly and publicly in Dallas and elsewhere, but this appears no longer to be the case."The idea that Jews in Dallas are somehow cowered by radical Islamists is just wrong. The Mayor is Jewish. At least one City Council member is Jewish. There is an incredibly large number of prominent Jews in Dallas given the size of the Jewish community, and Dallas synagogues will be packed next month for the High Holy Days. I would be shocked if more than 10% of Dallas Jews are even aware of the Holy Land Foundation and what it did, or ever heard of the Elashi brothers. There is no doubt that, in my opinion, much of our government and the mainstream media continually underestimate and underpublicize the nature of the Islamist threat in the US. But to say that Dallas Jews are effectively running scared does not comport with reality.
