Sultan ErdoganReader comment on item: Erdoğan's Turkish Delight Submitted by Robert (United States), Jan 23, 2020 at 00:31 Why haven't you given him the title of Sultan instead of Caliph? Sultan is a distinctly Turkish title, is it not? And it therefore does not require the pretense of descending from Prophet Muhammad. Erdogan was always an Islamist - one who believes in what we Westerners call Political Islam. You did not explicitly make this claim. Furthermore, Erdogan supports the Muslim Brotherhood, and this makes an enemy of at least Egypt and Saudi Arabia among the Sunni Arabs countries and peoples. I think you are mistaken on Trump's move in Syria. By withdrawing our troops from Syria in the vicinity were Turkey invaded without out disapproval, Erdogan and Turkey have become the problem of Czar Putin (Russia), Syria (Assad) Iran (Ayatollah), and the Kurds. I think on this point you are underestimating President Trump. ... I hope you change your mind about Trump in regard to US Foreign policy. Even on Israel I predict that he will fulfill your dream of an Israeli victory on Strategic grounds when the Political Plan comes after the Netanyahu election and alleged corruption issues are resolved. But this last point obviously has no direct bearing on Turkey under Erdogan - except that Erdogan has turned Turkey away from its Strategic ally of Israel into a Strategic adversary if not an outright enemy. Here I thought it was an Arabic word. I have written extensively on Erdoğan being an Islamist and feel no compulsion to do so in every single analysis. Reader comments (17) on this item
