Since there are still modern day contentions of just who really Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is, and as once again that distinction is to be made between this observer and Michael S, who made his objections regarding Jesus known some time back; a more thorough distinction appears to be necessary for those who are confused or do not know why this observer holds to both the humanity and the divinity of Yeshua, the Savior spoken about in both testaments; and to assist in telling why some have a hard time distinguishing the truth from the distraction.
The person of Yeshua, who is described as Emmanuel at the time of His birth, has been controversial from the moment He arrived to the time of His ascension, nearly thirty some odd years later. The Hebrew Holy Writ has His birth announced by the prophets and angelic hallelujah choruses, His circumcision announcing His special place in Jewish culture; the singular most controversial encounter with the Adversary after His baptism.
In that encounter, Yeshua had departed His time with John the Baptist, His prophesied forerunner, and entered into the wilderness to be alone after God the Father pronounced Yeshua as His Son.
The Adversary came to challenge Him, failing to do so since Yeshua merely quoted Scripture in order to put the Adversary in his place as only the Deity of Yeshua could have done by relying on the WORD of the LORD alone to begin His mission as the deliverer, to the Jew first; later expanded to the Gentiles. Were He not imbued and filled with the Holy Spirit, He would never have been sufficient to be the sacrificial Lamb of God for the remission of sins. The death on the cross would have meant nothing, something the Adversary very heavily opposed in deluding the religious authorities that Yeshua was merely human, and nothing more.
Yeshua speaks of His Deity; 'for God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, that whosoever believes should not perish, but have everlasting life.'
John' second letter emphasizes that love:
6) And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. 7) "For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh." Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8) Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward. 9) Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
John writes later of Yeshua, resurrected in His Full Deity, in the Revelation: He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He cannot be separated from His humanity any more than be declared less in His Deity. The Scripture are plain, something the religious leaders of that time did not understand in their erudite intellectualism when they referred Him for death to the Romans for their unbelief of Him as Savior (Isaiah 42, 49, 61), determining to sacrifice Him as Isaiah wrote about in Chapters 52 and 53.
Of such, is the distinction that Yeshua is the LORD, now sitting at the right hand of the throne of God, waiting for these times we are in now, to begin His return and rule in Israel as the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 49).
