Tovey, Q25:52 Jihad, Unbelievers and Muslim apologist Part 3Reader comment on item: "Godless Saracens Threatening Destruction": Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jan 10, 2021 at 09:43 Tovey, Let us read Q25:52 one more time: فلا تطع الكافرين وجاهدهم به جهادا كبيرا This can be rendered as: So do not obey the unbelievers and fight (Jihad) them with "it" big jihad. Notice that: 1. The word Qur'an is not in the Quranic text 2. The so called al-jihad al-akbar is not in the text 3. The author of the Qur'an does not define the "it" in the text 4. The word jihad here can only mean holy war as you shall see below The most important word must be به or "with it" and the author of the Qur'an did not tell us what is really the "It." If we turn to al-Tabari he glossed over the real problems in this verse and he tells us that the "it" in Bihi is the Qur'an, but this selection creates another set of problems. 1. It could be the القران The Qur'an 2. Or الاسلام or Islam 3. Or السيف or THE SWORD because what the word jihad means is holy war more so when the text says: Wa Jahiduhum BIHI Then he wrote that "this sura is Meccan and it was written before the order to fight" And this is indeed a real problem to al-mufasereen and it is that they were able to find Meccan verses in Medina Suras and vice versa. And "Sword and Jihad" are to be found only in Medina Suras and verses. al-Mufasereen have no answer to why we would have, as in this case, a Medina verse in a Meccan Sura (Qur'an 25 was revealed in Mecca so it is Meccan And here is the stance of the Islamic tradition now about finding a Medina verse in a Meccan Sura https://www.islamweb.net/ar/fatwa/58346/%D8%B3%D8%A8%D8%A8-%D9%88%D8%AC%D9%88%D8%AF-%D8%A2%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D9%85%D9%83%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%B1-%D9%85%D8%AF%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D9%83%D8%B3 Why is this a problem? It is because the Qur'an defines "corruption" in Q5:13 as: يحرفون الكلم عن مواضعه Or: They (in this case the Jews) change the words from their places This really means that the Qur'an must be a corrupted book if the verse is indeed a Medina verse in a Meccan Sura. Stll, al-Qurtubi did address this disaster More? al-Bayhaqi tells us that: ولم ترد كلمة الجهاد ومشتقاتها في القران الكريم الا لمعنى قتال المشركين وامنافقين Or: And the word al-Jihad and its derivatives only mean to FIGHT the unbelievers and the hypocrites And more evidence that the word al-jihad means holy war. Next? As for the smaller and the bigger jihad: This is what Ibn Taymiyya wrote about the infamous hadith of the "lesser and greater jihad" اما الحديث الذي برويه بعضهم انه قال في غزوة تبوك رجعنا من الجهاد الاصغر الى الجهاد الاكبر فلا اصل له ولم يروه احد من اهل المعرفة باقوال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وافعاله انتهى Or: With Regard to the Hadith being quoted by some that he said in regard to the Tabuk invasion: We returned from al-Jihad al-Saghir (the smaller jihad) to al-Jihad al-Kabir (the bigger jihad) it (the hadith) has no basis and it has not been reported by anyone of those that know (read this as al-Ulama and al-Mufasereen and the classical commentaries) the sayings of the prophet may Allah prays upon him and his word.
