Russian Middle East Influences Lying in Wait

Internal issues in Russia are beginning to show cracks to the outside as European pressure to compel Russian authorities to alleviate the political prosecution on political opposition leaders and the now apparent unrest of citizens who are afraid of government pressure caused by current policies. Resulting from this is the Russian government threatening to sever ties to the EU and develop a lone wolf strategy in defending Russian interests from economical sanctions, something not lost on the historical record of 'going it alone.'
In terms of the Middle East, Russian interests there can be just as volatile, possibly more so, if one considers how much interference the EU and the United Nations attempt to exert on Israel; and Syria is still trying to regain lost territories with the Russians standing in the line of fire, one mix up would not be out of the realm of possibility of increased hostilities. And America will not be able to stop it, let alone the EU.
