The Israeli justice system seems to work almost perfectly.Reader comment on item: Can the Koran Solve Israel's Political Impasse? Submitted by David (Israel), Apr 28, 2021 at 05:47 There is absolutely nothing politically tainted about it: - It went after the center-left PM Olmert (and put him in prison on lesser charges than those against Netanyahu) with the same zeal it is going after Netanyahu (currently quite properly presumed innocent). - All the major figures in the General Attorney office that led/are leading the charges against Netanyahu have a religious/Ligud/revisionist right-wing background. The Head of general prosecution Mendelblit is a black kippa religious guy that grew up in a family with strong ideological ties to Likud/revisionist movement. He was appointed by Netanyahu to this post, after previously being appointed by Netanyahu to be the Government Secretary. The Lead Prosecutor Shay Nitzan - the same, grew in a Likud/revisionist family and was educated in a Bnei Akiva yeshiva. The courts painstakingly and wisely avoid imposing any kind of judgements or orders which might be even remotely viewed as political, despite Netanyahu repeatedly breaking the law - only to avoid even the slightest appearance of political intervention from the courts of law. And are taking a lot of public heat for that. People who spread the "politically tainted Israeli justice system" conspiracy theory are, at best, completely misinformed.
