How can you be loyal to the sinners and mis guided people?Reader comment on item: Bibi, Thank You for Your Service Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jun 16, 2021 at 16:06 Dear Dr Pipes: I will quote a passage from your article "Bibi, Thank you for your service". You write: 'Israel's Muslims are even more problematic, as the riots last month served vividly to recall. As I noted nearly a decade ago, the ultimate issue remains that most of them "emphatically wish to remain disloyal citizens of the Jewish state (as opposed to loyal citizens of a Palestinian state)." While appreciating the many benefits of living in Israel, from the standard of living to the rule of law to insurance coverage, they nonetheless retain a widespread and deep hostility to inclusion in the Zionist enterprise. This contradiction has been sloughed aside for too long and needs an honest, sustained look with an eye to finding creative solutions; Middle Eastern-style communal autonomy offers one possible approach.' You say that Israel's Muslims want to remain disloyal citizens of Israel than loyal citizens of a Palestinian state. If you go to the streets in India and ask non-Muslims on the street about the loyality of India's Muslim citizens to India, you might hear a very similar description: After diviing India into two parts in 1947, the Muslims in India who did not migrate to Pakistan are still a problematic minority. Indian Muslims paint themselves as victims and deprived citizens and demand more and more feebies from the government. As suffocating as the behavior of Muslim minorities might seem, it is very explainable. How can Muslims be loyal to the Hindu citizens of India and Jewish citizens of Israel when they think that both Hindus and Jews follow inferior religious doctrines and are sinners of one kind or the other? How can they be loyal if their ultimate goal is to convert everyone to Islam? How can they be loyal when Islam explicitly encourages them to discriminate against non-Muslims. And, since peace and prosperity is secondary to gaining more land for Islam, there is no reason for these Muslim minorities to voluntarily migrate to other Islamic countries; they would rather stay here, increase their population and eventually win the land for Islam. If all Muslims of Israel migrate to Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Syria etc, will there be any fun? It is more fun to be victims, complain constantly, and occasionally participate in violence. In an Islamic country these Muslims will have no freedom, they will barely be able to call themselves victims and the thrill of converting everyone to Islam will not be there. Not to mention they wil have to work harder to make their living. The exact things that Muslims use to describe themselves (like strict and public prayer schedules) are a pain in the neck for everyone else. But muslims do not care. It is a thrill to be a pain in the neck and they are enjoying. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
