Hijab ban by a college upheld by Karnataka high courtReader comment on item: "We Hope You Will Wear Your Hijab to School" Submitted by Prashant (India), Mar 15, 2022 at 20:27 Dear Dr Pipes, Today, in a major judgment, the High Court in the southern Indian state of Karnataka allowed a college to ban Hijab so a uniform dress code can be applied to all students. The judges expressed the opinion that Hijab was not essential to Islam. (ref1) As was expected, the state high court's ruling was promptly challenged by an individual Muslim petitioner in the Indian Supreme Court. (ref 2) Muslims, the world over, love to paint themselves as victims, try to control the agenda, and keep the attention focused on themselves. So, I believe, the drama will continue. Islamic public life is continuously mired in unnecessary controversies and fully devoid of all spirituality. I recommend that Muslims should bring humility and spirituality to their public conduct.
