An innocent NYT quote that infuriated me.Reader comment on item: Did a Conspiracy Theory Just Collapse? Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 19, 2022 at 12:08 Dear Dr Pipes, If we keep our ears and eyes open, not one day will pass without us finding something for which Islam (and how people handle Islam) must be challenged. On the occasion of 75th anniversary of the end of British colonial rule in India, NYT published an article (Ref1, below). I have nothing much to say about the article itself but a quote in the article infuriated me. This quote examplifies how the world has been trained to give Islam a special treatment. We treat Islam differently and we do not even know. The NYT writes: "Muslims left India for Pakistan, mostly heading west, while Hindus and Sikhs made the opposite journey. As many as 20 million people fled." The article says so innocently that Muslims travelled west and *Hindus and Sikhs* made the opposite journey. No reader of the above sentence will notice that in 1947, Muslims created another Islam-only enclave for themselves on planet earth. There are nearly 100 such enclaves already and Muslims are actively working on at least two more: the (so called) Palestine and Kashmir. The article did not say that the Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Zoroastrians, or Buddhists of that region did not demand separate theocracies for themselves. They just meekly moved to what was left of India. The Sindhi Hindus of the Sindh region in Pakistan, did not go on a 75 year long killing spree like their Palestinian non-brothers. They just meekly left the land that was theirs since the beginning of time and moved to India to become bakers, doctors, professors, and laundry-owners. Rather than challenging Muslims on their non-separation of church and state, the liberal media gives Muslims an exalted status. This is a doctrinal fault of Islam. Islam is so weak that it needs the help of tyrants to survive. This must be changed. If Islam must changed for this, so be it.
