The pot calling the kettle blackReader comment on item: Campus Watch - A Good Idea? Submitted by Susan (United States), Oct 7, 2002 at 16:05 I'm amused by the howls of protests from MESA members over the Campus Watch website. McCarthyism? These are in many cases the same people who ostracized and delegitimized prominent Islamic history scholar Bernard Lewis of Princeton after he was demonized in print by Edward Said...i.e. the same people who have a lock on mainstream media as well as on academia. These are the same people who advise students with "conservative" viewpoints that they won't be welcome in certain English elective classes covering Palestinian poetry. Now they are upset because they can't censor the Internet, too, with their politically correct dogma. One teeny-weeny website with limited funding turns the spotlight on them, and they flip out! Kudos to Dr. Pipes, Martin Kramer and Stanley Kurtz for keeping the heat on. I've noticed that John Esposito has suddenly started talking to right-wing publications like FrontPageMagazine. Am I too cynical to suppose he never would have bothered with such publications in the good old days before Pipes, Kramer and Kurtz started to clue people on to exactly what he was saying?
