To Bader S. & VijayReader comment on item: Civil war likely in Iraq: Pipes Submitted by Vijay (United Kingdom), Mar 8, 2006 at 06:30 >Submitted by faqi, Mar 8, 2006 at 01:13>Its very easy for people like you sitting on arm chairs in the comfort of your homes, on hind-sight to make aspersions and judgments. As if you are not sitting in your armchair and typing. > The coalition (US) went into Iraq with all good intentions, to take out a ruthless dictator (from the minority Iraqi Sunni Muslims). Good intentions are not good enough. You need wisdom and foresight if you are going to invade a country in a volatile part of the world. If the USA had been any wise, and removal of Saddam Hussien was the main motive, it could have been done easily in 1991 in the First Gulf War with two more days of fighting. As far 'good intentions', removal WMD threat has been proved to be a non-issue. Don't say 'ruthless dictators' have never been friends to USA > Human rights and freedoms were unheard of. Indeed. That is why The Saudi establishment is such good friends of the US. >The US had done this before in countries such as Germany, Japan and South Korea. Comparison to Germany and Japan is ridiculous. In 1945, there was an international consensus and domestic political uniformity on what to do with Germany and Japan. These losers themselves were ready to become democrats. Militarism and Nazism were swear words in White House. None of such consitions existed in 2003. The USA coalition has gone into Iraq against great protests by friends and foes alike. Sucking upto Islam is a favourite pastime of the US establishment. Under these conditions , you are only throwing good money and lives after bad ventures.
