Brain on DrugsReader comment on item: State's Terror Untruths Submitted by Steven Abrams (United States), May 28, 2002 at 19:43 Having seen those "public service" ads on television on how drug users are unwittingly funding "terrorism", I'd have to say that the people who produced those ads are perpetrating a dangerous deception. Drugs are bad for you and they do indeed fund criminal activities and destabilize countries in Latin America - but the real threat to our country is not coming from Colombian drug lords. Why aren't we in the U.S. willing to face up to the fact that the drug called "oil" is what's funding the real threat to our country? Consequently, we'd be well-advised to deal with our collective "oil addiction".--Steven Abrams Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
