open letter to the middle eastReader comment on item: Polls, Palestinians and the Path to Peace Submitted by george orwell (United States), Jul 28, 2006 at 18:16 Open letter to the people of the Middle East The Palestinians have always made the wrong choice for their leadership. They chose Arafat (PLO) as their leader…they relied on Arab neighbor leadership to make their fight, many left-(Gaza) – considered terrorist … right of return, lost….And now by choosing Hamas as their ‘leader'- ‘mis-leader.' All causing unnecessary hardship on its people as History repeats itself. Killing innocent men, women and children is not part of any religion, for God has made life sacred. They have lost the sense of the Sacred, on all sides. Similarly, Lebanon chooses their ‘leader' the Hezbollah who relies on man's interpretation for its religious guidance as it attempts to force its ‘religion' on its people; against the principles of the Qur'an: {[10:99]Had your Lord willed, all the people on earth would have believed. Do you want to force the people to become believers}/(Muslims)? The long-term solution is not a "Great Wall of Israel," nor is it a "Two-State" solution. It is, however, a solution based on the basic principles found in the Torah. Many people misperceive that the Torah and Qur'an contradict each other. Nothing could be so far from the truth… They complement each other. {[5:46]Subsequent to them, we sent Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming the previous scripture, the Torah. We gave him the Gospel, containing guidance and light, and confirming the previous scriptures, the Torah, and augmenting its guidance and light, and to enlighten the righteous.} It is mans ‘interpretation,' namely, the Talmud (Jewish interpretation) and Hadith (Muslim interpretation) which the current conflict arises. Even it is this ‘interpretation' causing conflict in Iraq (Shi'ite and Sunnis) and Iran, similar to Protestant/Christian conflicts for decades in Europe. The long term solution should be based upon the type of Government Pre-Civil War of the US; similar to the Suisse type of Government: Confederate States, with their capital in Jerusalem- where Jews, Christians (48% of Palestinians) and Muslims (Sh'ite and Sunnis) have the freedom to practice freely, protected under the ‘Rule of Law' based on the Torah (and therefore, the Qur'an); a ‘consensus'(referendum) of the people. Utilize the United Arab Emirates as an example of Democracy in the Gulf -something the media never will show how low taxes and low interest rates and free trade help flourish their economy (a Qur'anic principle AND a basic principle found in the Torah: i.e. no usury). The capital should be an International Capital of Jerusalem (Vatican of the Middle East), protected by a ‘Nato-type' force (as the Vatican is protected by the Suisse National Guard). This de-centralized type of Federalism could be used in former Soviet Republics, Ireland, Iraq etc… where Protestants and Catholics, Jews and Muslims and Shi'tes and Sunnis can be protected under the Rule of Law (as it is in Suisse, who never entered the religious wars in Europe) based upon the Torah and Qur'an. After all, this is a religious issue at hand. There should be a Free Trade Zone (i.e. EU); called "MU" Middle East Union, including South Lebanon, Trans-Jordia, Southeast Syria (Sheba' farms), Israel proper: Where signatory members trade and travel freely within the ‘MU,' all linked with new trans-MU highways. This would promote a huge travel network of people flocking upon all the Jewish, Christian and Muslim (international) sites ruled by a ‘pope' (or King/President) of the MU. In closing, God has given us the free-will to believe in accordance with our being- whether it is Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist. And therefore, we have the right to worship freely under the Rule of Law.{[2:136]Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."[22:78]You shall strive for the cause of GOD as you should strive for His cause. He has chosen you and has placed no hardship on you in practicing your religion - the religion of your father Abraham. He is the one who named you "Submitters" originally.}(Muslims).
