Disinformation yet again from the defenders of IslamReader comment on item: Arguing over "Jihad and the Professors" Submitted by J.Shearer (United Kingdom), Feb 7, 2003 at 08:58 ERFAN IBRAHIM quotes the Qur'an that says, "there is no compulsion in religion."Here again we see an attempt to beguile and misinform non-Muslims. The quote from the Quran applies for Muslims. It certainly does not apply to non-Muslims as far as the Quran is concerned. As for jihad being a defence of Islam. I wonder what Islam was defending in Aghanistan - a historically Buddhist country that was forcibly converted. Or for that matter in India and even further afield from the traditional geographic domain of Islam. As for - Qutb argued that jihad is necessary to "rid the world of jahiliyya [ignorance]. It is clear to all and sundry that Muslim nations and communities are the ones in jahiliyya.
