Next Year in Jerusalem?Reader comment on item: Israel and Syria going to war? Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jun 8, 2007 at 20:32 When is Israel going to elect a strong leader who will not cave in to the countries surrounding her? Last summer's "war" seemed to be just a game. And was that other Israeli soldier ever released? We were all waiting in anticipation for Israel to show her prowess in the region, but she failed miserably. I agree, Ehud Olmert is too weak, too spineless to lead his beloved land in the right path. Here we are, nearly 60 years later, and things haven't improved much. Israel is an oasis of modernity stuck in the midst of tribal feuds and backwards-thinking peoples. There is great jealousy, too, stemming from Israel's uncanny ability to use her people, who are her greatest resource, to her finest advantage. We who love Israel are waiting for the world to recognize that she is here to stay. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
