uci problems

Dear Mr Pipes,

I am a part-time teacher at UC Irvine teaching ESL at the university extension. While I did not attend your recent appearance there, I have been following the events at uci concerning the muslim student union for some time, and I now attend the relevant events.

As you know, we had the unfortunate experience of an anti-Israel week at our campus recently featuring hateful inciteful speech by Ward Churchhill, Malik Ali and Alim Musa. I wrote a letter to the new university newspaper the following week condemning the speakers that the MSU regularly brings onto our campus. I have written several articles about the situation on my blog (fousesquawk) However, it seems that no other faculty member at uci is willing to speak out against these outrages.

I have great admiration for reut cohen, who, at great personal risk, documents and confronts these purveyors of hatred against not only Israel, but against America and Jews in general.

I hope that you and your website will continue to bring attention to what is happening at uci-an otherwise great university, where the overwhelming majority of students are not involved in this nonsense. If our university heads don't come out and deal with this situation, we are heading for tragedy here at uci.
