Islam in 600 YearsReader comment on item: When Conservatives Argue about Islam Submitted by Bill Storey (United States), Jul 13, 2007 at 18:20 I think Blackspeare's argument about time cannot withstand examination. The Reformation restored Christianity to its original understanding as offered by Christ to his disciples, and as offered by the major apostles, particularly Paul of Tarsus. The problem in the Middle Ages was that the Bible was not generally available until Gutenberg invented the printing press in the 15th century. There were so few bibles available then that even Martin Luther had not read it when he became a monk. It was only after he read it, and discovered how corrupt the church was in comparison to what the Bible really said, that he nailed his 98 theses to the door of the Wittenburg Church and started the Reformation. It is different with Islam. Its founder was not a wandering prophet like Jesus or Paul who offered wisdom and guidance to a fallen world. He was a warrior and politician who conquered wide areas of what is now Saudi Arabia, and advised his successors (the caliphs) to conquer still greater lands. Thosse who resisted were either to be killed or ruthlessly suppressed. That counsel continued long after Mohammed's death, and led to the establishment of the caliphate, and the multiple attempts to invade Europe. What everyone needs to understand is that while Christianity is a religion of love, forgiveness, and redemption, Islam is a religion of conquest and intolerance, according to the actual words of the Koran. This will not change so long as the Koran is the centerpiece, which it will be so long as Islam exists. Without the Koran, Islam is no longer Islam. Also, church and state, which Christianity teaches should be separate (Jesus said, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"), are welded together in Islam and can never be separated. This is why time is not an issue here. Islam will be the same in 600 years or 6,000 years so long as the actual words of the Koran are known and taught. Luther is a Christian hero because he restored the church to the actual teachings of the Bible. In Islam, the man who is restoring the Muslim world to the real teachings of the Koran is Osama bin Laden. Take your pick.
