HereticsReader comment on item: Michael Mukasey: No to Islamic Law in the United States Submitted by gary fouse (United States), Oct 26, 2007 at 22:12 Mr Redmond, I consider myself a Christian, though not an evangelical. In reality, I will be the first to admit that I don't know the ultimate answer. I can't produce the DNA or fingerprints that prove the truth of Christianity or any other religion. I guess that's why we call it faith. As to the sins of Christianity in history, I agree that there are dark chapters, the Inquistion, wars fought over religion, and most recently, the pedophilia scandal in the Catholic Church. All of these scandals have been perpetrated by imperfect man-even if acting in God's name. However, today, there is only one religion engaged in worldwide violence and terror in the name of that religion. It is Islam, not Buddism, not Christianity, not Judaism. True, not all Muslims are into Jihad, but a lot are. A lot want to see Islam imposed on the rest of the world by any means necessary. That is the threat we face today. Jews or Christians or Buddists who leave their faith do not face the threat of death. For example, you as an atheist don't have to fear any fatwas from Christian clerics calling for your assassination. In America especially, you have the right to be whatever you want to be-Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Jew or Atheist-or anything else. You should be thankful for that fact. Whatever historical sins Christians have committed over the centuries, it is today peaceful, as are the Jewish and Buddist faiths. The violent element of Islam is a threat that is real no matter how many people want to deny it. If we want to remain free, we have to resist it. Hopefully, we will have peaceful Muslims at our side.
