What Pipes failed to mention

Malcolm X was a larger than life Black leader at the time when Blacks were not given Civil Rights in this nation. Wrights' comments are coming from a marginal pastor who no one even heard of until Barack Obama stepped into the light. Malcolm X's quote may have led to him becoming a normative Muslim--which also led him to recant previously held notions of Whites, Jews, and other minorities deemed "enemies" to the Black cause. ...

I don't come close to condoning Wright's statements, but the times are different and we have to contextualize them as well... Kennedy cannot be placed in teh same category as George Bush and the US was not in Vietnam in full force in 1963. In my eyes George Bush is even worse than any statement a less-than important pastor could have made, as he has helped perpetuate war against Muslims the world over--normative and non, killing hundreds of thousands, squandered billions (maybe trillions soon) on the war effort, and send thousands of American soldiers to these places who are now dead and/or permanently wounded.
