WhitewashReader comment on item: Reagan's Early Victory in the War on Terror Submitted by Bill Zeise (United States), Jun 15, 2004 at 12:13 Dear Mr. Pipes,Most of the time I agree with what you write, but please don't whitewash Reagan's retreat from terrorism. When 234 Marines were bombed and killed in Lebanon, he retreated without an answer. He tripled our debt from one trillion dollars to three trillion dollars in 8 years. He sold chemicals to Iraq to be used on Iranians and one of the reasons of declaring war on Iraq. Don't defend his presidency as the one that answered terrorists. It did not and he did not. Khomeni released the 444 hostages to embarrass Jimmy Carter and the United States and Ronald Reagan did nothing. Sincerely, Bill Zeise
