President ReaganReader comment on item: Reagan's Early Victory in the War on Terror Submitted by Jim Wright (United States), Jun 17, 2004 at 17:40 Was it not President Reagan who responded to the airline shoot-down with the bombing of Quadafi, et al, quieting them for some 20 years? They fully understood such a non-diplomatic response. This is what must be done with the Islamists of all nationalities, holding the Nations from which the terrorists come responsible for their terrorism, and bombing them promptly and massively for every act of terror that they condone and support, whether openly or secretly. Support is defined as providing training, funds, or prayers. It is criminal to send in our young soldiers to fight one-on-one, to die in an impossible-to-win War, when bombing would be far more effective. The notion that we have a moral obligaton, as a Nation, to the "People of Iraq" is nonsense. Let those of our Leaders who feel such an obligation become political missionaries and personally go over there and sell their ideas. Making cannon-fodder of our young by our Leaders (based on their own religious beliefs) is different than that of the Islamist suicide bombings (again based on religious beliefs) only in its indirection. We have yet to program our young into voluntary suicide. Here it is known as "Our patriotic duty".
