Blood of TyrantsReader comment on item: Assessing the Iranian Election Submitted by Lou from Queens, NYC, USA (United States), Jun 15, 2009 at 13:09 Democracy Persian style. First the elderly so-called - Supreme Leader- Khameni selects the candidates, then almost right after the election announces the winner. What a suprise, coming from the the mullah controlled state that has become Iran. Despite record oil profits the state run economy still has double digit inflation, and unemployment. Severe, and growing envirmental problems go unaddressed. The educated, urban class are well aware of the constant corruption, and shortages that now plague the country. They are embarassed by their current leader and the horrible image of their country in the rest of the civilized world. Only the herdsmen, and backwoods people remain loyal to his regime. This is a nation that proclaims to be a leader of Islam whose only real close alliance is with the openly atheistic Russians. A beautiful, police state to police state, relationship. Sadly it will take more then a vote for the Iranian people to secure their freedom, or maybe they should just all move to Norway.....................
