The Failure Of Orange YonasonReader comment on item: The Far Right & Jihadis in Alliance Submitted by Aymenn Jawad (United Kingdom), Jun 16, 2009 at 12:10 OrangeYonason: Well, I looked at the material you linked to: it failed to prove your assertion that the entire political Left supports eugenics. In fact, I provided you with a list of centre-Left/social-democrat parties and you were unable to show that a single one of these parties had eugenics programs included in their manifestos. So who is the one giving unsupported opinion here? Secondly, with regards to the links, what does Woodrow Wilson have to do with fascism? On the contrary, his ideas, in terms of international politics, have provided the foundation of the modern neoconservative movement: that is, to promote Jeffersonian democracy around the world. Thirdly, your objection to FDR's New Deal is what, exactly? It lowered unemployment and gave the economy a kick start. Of course, knowing the tricks that ideologues like you play, you will claim that the New Deal did not reduce unemployment. "Ahh yes," sayest thou,"but unemployment rose to 13% in 1937". I will respond: "But FDR chose to cut spending in 1936". Fact: When FDR spent, unemployment fell. When FDR cut back, unemployment rose. Fourthly, we pass on to the welfare state. I beseech: what is wrong with the welfare state? Here is another fact, something which you are willing to avoid unless it comes to baseball batting scores: the countries with welfare programs and Keynesian mixed economies are top of the Human Development Index and have suffered the least in this recession. If you don't believe me, just look at the example of Norway. Perhaps you are unaware that the welfare state was prominently supported by some 19th century European conservatives. Have you not heard of the one-nation conservatism of Disraeli and Bismarck? And what you would term "leftist economics" were the standard orthodoxy in Europe from 1945-1973. Fifthly, I have dealt with your claim that the Nazis were leftists. Tell me, do social democrats advocate the suppression of democratic trade unions? That is just what the Nazis did. You have given no reason why my distinction between the Far-Left and social democracy is incorrect. And, finally, I was not ordering you to respond; I merely pointed out your failure to refute.
