A Cup of Reeling for the NationsReader comment on item: Assessing Binyamin Netanyahu's Speech at Bar-Ilan University Submitted by WB Kelly (United States), Jun 20, 2009 at 23:00 Could somebody intelligently tell me who the "Palestinians" are, and what is the basis for claim to land? As far as I know, "Palestine" first appeared as a Roman moniker that referred to the eastern portion of their empire. It was later used by outsiders, such as the British Empirialists, in a similar way "Orient" was used. As far as I know, the bloodline that claims to be "Palestinian" are Moabite or Ammon (Jordan)... possibly Philistine (Phonecian). When Eidersheim explored "Palestine" in the late 19th century, he categorized the land as "an ash tray" with itinerants shepherding goats across ancient agricultural terraces created by Jews centuries before. To his eye, the land was utterly barren... it's womb shut, as God claims it would be when stewarded by a Godless people. By contrast, since 1948, the land has become fertile and even the desert has bloomed, as prophesyzed in Scripture. Can anybody make a case for this land that is more compelling than the Jewish claim based on Scripture, lineage and/or agronomy? And any Islamic claim to Jerusalem is hogwash... Mohammed never set foot there. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
