Christian Zionism Requires Full Understanding of the Hebrew Holy BibleReader comment on item: "Jewish" - Not the Same as "Pro-Israel" Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Sep 23, 2009 at 17:02 What the Hebrew Holy Bible says is that whoever blesses Israel is blessed, and whoever curses Israel will be cursed (Genesis 12:3), referring to the promises made to Abraham. We read further that what makes a Zionist in Biblical terms is the recognition of the mountainsides around the City of David in Jerusalem as the Holy Bible, from many references, one place being Psalm 48; another Psalm 51:18. There are over 150 references to Zion in the Scriptures. Yet another in Isaiah 2:3: And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the WORD of the LORD from Jerusalem. Acknowledging that the Christian imperative to support Israel is valid, so too there must be a recognition of the full import of the Biblical directive of belief, that Yeshua HaMashiach is the Savior of both the Jews and Gentiles, that to limit the Biblical requirement of salvation necessitating a Jewish belief in their Messiah is a mistaken perception. After all, who was the original witness to the Jews for the extreme need for salvation? It must be recognized that it is one other than Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ. That has not, nor will ever change. Neither will there ever be a change of who is going to heaven, and who is not. Believers, both Jewish and Gentile who have their names written in the Book of Life, get into heaven. People who practice good and moral lives, but demur or reject the salvation offered in the blood sacrifice of Yeshua HaMashiach will have to answer for that at the Great White Throne, and will receive the judgment for their defiance of the truth. This is in the Hebrew Holy Bible. Being merely Jewish does not relieve that imperative. We must remember that by the Word of Almighty God Himself, the Jewish people are a stiff-necked people, and covenant breakers as well. Further, it will not be the Jewish people in general that will bring about the covenant blessings, but the LORD Himself in spite of the reluctance of the Jewish population to come to a full recognition of Yeshua HaMashiach. Now, from a Christian Zionist perspective, it must be further recognized still that the land of Israel is being readied for the final acts of an unbelieving world bent on bartering Israel for peace. Much to their everlasting shame, they will bring the land to war, only to bring about the fury of the judgment of refusing to believe in the WORD of the LORD, and their destruction. Zion will remain, now purified by the execution of the promises made by the LORD Almighty God to Abraham, and the LORD Yeshua HaMashiach will reign from Jerusalem. We have the confidence of Almighty God as we read of such things in Hebrew Holy Bible, there being no greater assurances of His provisions as we see them explode into reality.
