Islam More Tolerant Than What????Reader comment on item: Islam and Western Militaries Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Nov 6, 2009 at 11:57 This is a late response, yet of a necessity, there must be a response when one reads how cultural differences from around the world cause ideological clashes that can have tragic results. Such is the case here, where a society (like that in Malaysia) that has been under the Muslim influences for so long there is a loss of reality while expecting the whole world to submit itself to Islam. As long as there is Islam, there will always be the tendency for clashes of ideology, especially in the 'Western world' where the targeting of non-Muslim societies was the way of Islam in its early development. Nothing in that mentality of the ardent followers of the Islamic Prophet have changed such things from those days to these. If there are any harboring doubts, one need only look at the latest in a long series of incidents perpetrated under the cover of 'allahu akhbar', the shooting in Fort Hood, Texas, United States of America. Do not delude oneself into thinking that 'moderate' Islam can speak for the more ardent followers who are, in no doubt, receiving the news with much adulation for the perpetrator. That speaks more volumes of the sensibilities of the intolerant behavior of the Muslim sensibilities found in the more predominant enclaves of Islam than someone from a decidedly Muslim background trying to say it isn't so.
