Hopeless in the US. Unless...

Israel is a small country, with a history and a situation that favor the presence of many well informed people (about Muslim terrorism) and where (almost) everyone knows the danger of terrorism. Thus it is quite possible to find enough good screeners. On the other hand, the US are big, full of high-capacity hubs and with relatively few people interested in the mindset of suicidal terrorists. And it would need, what, a few hundred thousand highly skilled screeners to replicate the Israeli set-up? Good luck with that.

For of course you'll have to focus on Muslims so you'll get an avalanche of lawsuits (it will already start with the instruction of screeners), and you'll quite probably lose most of them unless many more Muslims are caught in the act (in the US). So you have to accept defeat or wait until the situation gets so bad that everyone will call for profiling.

Unless... you start by taking the hassle to prove that terrorism is a central feature of Islamic religion. Unless you prove that in courts (say by showing some consensus of Islamic jurisprudence). Once you have established that, it might become ok to profile jihadists attitudes. And to get beyond theatrical security.
