is "Our entire air travel industry is at risk of being grounded - exactly what the terrorists want." ?Reader comment on item: Security Theater Now Playing at Your Airport Submitted by myth (Germany), Jan 9, 2010 at 06:34 M.Hiller, thanks for your comment. I agree with what you wrote. Except for that one statement: ""Our entire air travel industry is at risk of being grounded - exactly what the terrorists want." I think it is exactly the opposite. First the radicals coming from the muslim world need air travel to actually get into the western world and become active there, even if it is only for legal islamism. Second and more important: Why is it that commercial interests, such as air-travel, are to be left untouched no matter how big the threat how intense the war, how high the values in question ? Any radical islamist would dispise the western world for exactly this: placing commercial interests over moral standards. I would join in saying, look, the western world is so degenerate, we prefer ingoring the war waged against us over protecting our own people for the sake of business alone. Keeping the *business* air-travel going as if nothing happened is a sign of western weakness to the radical islamists, I believe they welcome it. I can even imagine that making changes to airport-security is distracting the public from islamism-2.0 acitvities and gives the false impression of a serious response. It diverts the attention away from the threat of radicals to the discrimination of muslims in profiling . Again, I think islamists enjoy the airtravel confusion as long as it continues like this.
