Thumb in the eyeReader comment on item: On Biden in Israel Submitted by Jay1 (United States), Mar 19, 2010 at 22:51 Dr Pipes point ,that Israel needs an American ally willing to assist the Jewish state against the irredentist Palestinian positions, instead of a stone by stone hectoring ,has merit. However as the days tick by,it appears Israel may consider themselves lucky if they have an Obama administration interlocker that is at all balanced, let alone friendly. It is to be fair, true, that Netanyahus choice of words and timing were a bit of a thumb in the eye to the Vice President of the United States and some Palestinians. And as promised, the finger of blame from America pointed it out as such. But what ,one might ask ,would evoke a similar finger of blame from the Obama administration towards Palestinian words? For instance, when the Palestinians,in contradiction to the recounted debate, intent and wording of UN resolution 242 again insist that Israel must cede all of the territories from the 67 war, will the same President rush to the microphone, point his angry finger and say, halt, harmful to the process, not what Resolution 242 says. Will the President know in other words, what a Palestinian thumb in the eye sounds like to him, and the Israelis?
