Palestine cannot go anywhere!Reader comment on item: America's Shiny New Palestinian Militia Submitted by Isaac Haskiya (Denmark), Mar 27, 2010 at 06:08 To begin with the US gives both grants and loans to Israel that amount to a total of US $ 400 (four-hundred) per capita counting 7,5 million Israeli citizens and including 1,5 israeli Arabs. This sum is less than 3% of the Gross National Income per Israeli. It wouldn´t change much if it was annulled. The Palestinians, on the other hand, receive funds from the Arab States, from the US, from the EU on top of what they got from the UN. They cannot survive without it. Palestinians cannot go anywhere without their financial oxygen mask. They might have a chance if they can realize their situation as it is and give up their demands on Jerusalem, on parts of Judea and Samaria that some call the West Bank, accept a smaller state in the form of a federation of typically Arab cities, with a police force and without an army. If they cannot accept this alternative and want to have a sovereign Palestinian state with an army they´ve already got one on the East Bank, Jordan. They must also take care of their own people like Israel took care of the Jews that were thrown out of Arab countries in 1948. The 30.000 police force or whatever one might call it is irrelevant in solving the conflict. The opinion of the Israeli people on the future of their own state is well documented; they will not accept a powder keg on their own belly, they will not give away Jerusalem nor will they give away their inherited rights on Judea and Samaria. The US wish to have good relations with the Arab World but cannot ask Israel to foot the bill.
