What is going right with westerners?

Reader comment on item: Why Do Israelis Permit Hezbollah to Acquire Scuds?

Submitted by Norma Fares (United Kingdom), May 2, 2010 at 19:19

"What is wrong with Westerners?" is, I think, the question that resumes the whole problem:

Upon the Israeli reports, UN showed its anxiety about instability in the region. Some European countries confessed that they are observing the situation with great worry. The US administration, from its side, took some days to confirm that the Israeli report is true warning that "war could break out if the weapons shipments were not stopped". The Secretary of Defence Robert Gates said that Hezbollah has "far more rockets and missiles than most governments in the world." Hassan Nesrallah in his latest statement refused to confirm or to deny the report. He went even further to state that the report does not concern Hezbollah. That came after some Hezbollah sources confirmed that the "group had received a shipment of Scud missiles from Syria", as reported by the Kuwaiti paper Al-Rai. Lebanese weak government --ruled practically by Hezbollah-- denied the report and which was expected.

"What is wrong with westerners?" Iran is proceeding with it s Nuclear enrichments. Syria is offering its territory to transfer weapons, now Scuds, to Hezbollah under the UNIFIL eye.

With the passivity of westerners --that did not surpass some anxieties, warnings, observations, objections and silence -- What is going right with westerners?

The Arab League, passive and ineffective since its creation in 1945 must celebrate the success of its 65 years of failure now adopted by the West!

Finally, Israel, the only democratic state, has the full right to defend itself like any other country in the World. The Islamist and terrorist environment that are encountering Israel put on all "westerners" and UN the [morale] obligation to defend Israel with their teeth.
