have we not already tried enough Caliphate/EmiratesReader comment on item: Trust the Palestinian Authority? Submitted by Ted (United States), Jul 8, 2010 at 03:33 The Islamic Utopia in the form of Caliphates/Emirates can never exist. The rest of the world has already understood it and Muslims need to catch up. All dictators climb to the throne with the highest ideals. Every dictator of the past century like Lenin, Mao, Stalin, various Islamic Emirs, Iranian Ayatollahs, Pakistani dictators like Musharraf, and Zia ul-haq, South American dictators on the 1970s and 80s, Polish, East German and other East European communists of the last century, Fidel Castro and Saddam Hussein started their regimes with the best of intentions and all of them gradually decayed into sword wielding, gun shooting despots. Islamic history is full of Sultans who appear to be great when looked through the distant lens of history but were brutal murderers in their own times. And, if we set aside the oil wealth Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, and Iraq will be completely indistinguishable from Sudan and Somalia. So no muslim should rest his hopes on finding the perfect Caliphate. Churchill was right when he said that democracy is the worst system of government baring all others. Muslims should rest their hopes only on freedom and democracy.
