Depending on Whose Viewpoint-Libya will be Better or Worse by the Accounting of Who Loses the MostReader comment on item: Gaddafi's Fin de Régime Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Mar 2, 2011 at 18:54 While America 'may not have a dog in that fight,' we do have a history that is long running and there are the financial stakes involved as well. Tripoli does not appear in the Marine song for nothing; and the rising costs of gasoline that Americans pay is at least rhetorically attributed to the Libyan meltdown. Even though there is not the obvious commitment of American quasi-political/military influences being shown at this time towards Libya, the U. S. Navy has been repositioned for reasons not yet part of the media dialogue. Does this mean we're begging for some involvement that might require 'eyes on the ground' to protect some feigned American interests? Only the American Administration can answer that one; and there is nothing definitive from them yet. But there is a larger picture that is being filled out as this plays with the larger circumstances going on at the same time. Iran has postured itself to be closer in actual direct contact with the things going on in the Mediterranean and that is worth some head scratching. This could be considered merely coincidental, that nothing more than a 'good will tour' is the reason for the gesture…or is it? Maybe they are looking for another flotilla. Maybe, this is their way of having eyes of their own in the region for assessment purposes of action plans from their own agenda.
