The Bad Guy All AlongReader comment on item: Obama's Failed Middle East Speech Submitted by Jay1 (United States), May 20, 2011 at 00:23 While Dr Pipes is right that the President asking Israel alone to act boldly is a folly, Obamas whole tenure as President is breathtaking to the negative for Israel. All Presidents but he (and Jimmy Carter) always sensed that words used recklously, could have serious consequences for the Jewish state. And like clock work, they have. From the day he took office, the Presidents one sided hypercriticism of Israel has led in part to an opening of the floodgates that freed Turkey, soon Egypt, and even the EU from reasonable Israeli friendship. It seems as though it never occurred to this President with the "wise eyes" , that Judaism is always an inch away from antisemitism. How stunning that his speech applauds civil wars called democracy movements, yet destroys the reputation and rightfulness of a real living and breathing democracy surrounded as they are. President Obama has changed everything for Israel. A UN resolution 242 that promised Israel secure borders has been ripped up and replaced with Israel must swap equal lands to the Palestinians and only if and where they agree. President Obama ripped up the good work of Bill Clinton by declaring that a comprimise should be based on the 1967 lines (which resolution 242 intentionally did not say, and President Bush reaffirmed) instead of a more intelligent creative statement such as a comprimise should be based on the American Bill Clinton proposals .How sickly ironic, that a day or two after Palestinians celebrate catastrophe day when referring to Israel, when a week or two ago the Hamas part of the new Palestinian government prayed for the soul of Osama Bin Laden, Israel should be thrown under the bus like this. How dare Barak Obama. This speech was like nothing before. The Palestinians who jumped for joy at the downing of the world trade center and kissed the hand of Sadaam Hussein, are having some day in the sun. Having laid nicey nice groundwork saying Jewish people did indeed greatly help people like me during the civil rights marches, the President has concluded his thoughts by saying, I feel good enough friends with this Jewish community and as an American to Israel to basically suggest,....Be bold alone Israel......ask not of the Palestinians, for youve been the bad guy all along.
