warReader comment on item: Ambitious Turkey Submitted by havas (Turkey), Sep 17, 2011 at 04:32 The 'west' never really had control of the Middle East, only falsely thinking so because so much money was made and never really caring about the socio-political consequences of those things. So it was really easy for the military dictatorships that sprouted up to move in and take their share. Turkey was, and is not immune to such things. if arab countries can have democracy and listen to their people instead of letting new dictatorships only then they can be rich and free people. look at turkey, we were under secret military control for 50 years. now we are finally free and we are developing and becoming richer very rapidly. on the contrary of what you think we can not be directed by generals any more. all of them who were willing such things are in the jail now. that era is finished. too bad for israel and america. jews are turkey's historic friends. we had no problem ever in our history. if israel army didnt make such a huge mistake of killing 9 turks by shooting them from behind, ı dont think it would ever be possible for turkey to make such a great political change. they should have got the control of the ship without shooting and killing anybody. mr erdogan and turks in general are not islamist people as mr pipes and probably you assume. we are pragmatic people. ı am sure many turks and erdogan were hoping israel not to apologise from turkey. because we can not be friends with israel and arabs at the same time. it was much more logical to be friends with arabs for our economic and strategic benefits today. because in the past their sold dictators were not bringing their huge oil income to our country. they obey their masters. they were doing business with imperialists. so if new dictators come again to arab countries ı think turkey will be a looser and western white imperialist friends will be the winners again. but if people can manage to control their countries in arab world ı think that can be very scary for the western imperializm and israel also. turks and arabs can form a great economic and politic power in the world. and past is past. this has nothing to do with ottomans. ı think very difficult days are waiting israel now. israel shouldnt take turkey as an enemy. this government of israel will be condemned by israeli people in the future. ı am personally very angry to you people. but ı cant hate jews totally. ı really hope we dont go into war some day with you in the mediterreanean. many people think this is not possible. but ı think this can happen. though ı hope not.
