startling observationsReader comment on item: Canada's Muslims, Not of One Mind Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kaffiristan (Australia), Nov 30, 2011 at 20:31 Mr Slayhy in his self-appointed didactic role writes: " Teaching an ignorant ..." Teaching 'an ignorant'? How funny. Mr Slahy you seem to be ignorant of the fact that 'ignorant' is an adjective NOT a noun. "....Let us see what rubbish you will come to refute below..." Mr Slayhy , you won't catch me out refuting that an awesome, fantastic , infinite universe exists outside (and on) our planet. What is refuted is the retrograde Islamic science (invariably twisted interpretations of the discoveries by ancient Greek and Indian astronomers) which interprets it to justify the book of islamic ignorance. " The Universe 1. Woven sky "By the sky (heaven) That is woven (full of paths) [quran 51:7] Check the internet and look at the scientific pictures of the discover of paths in the universe between stars and galaxies..." Mr Slayhy - I can show you something even more amazing - and even closer to you. Open your eyes, look around your room. Notice how there is space between every object? Is that not incredible? Look at the back of the chair you are sitting on. Now look back at your computer screen. How remarkable is it that there is a fixed path between both?! And look - even closer - there is a path between the mouse you hold in your hand and the door of the room you are in. A path which can be mathematically described and is absolutely unique in its coordinates and vectors - until it changes. Why look to the galaxies and stars which you can only see at night - when such wonders surround you? 2. Expansion of universe "....With power did We construct the heaven. ..." Who is 'we'??? "....Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof. [quran 51:47]..." Which could just as easily and far more likely mean simply that space has no limit. God says in the quran that he is expanding the universe, look at the scientific researches that the universe is actually expanding Your attempt to equate the ' Allah' of the Koran with the Jewish and Christian concept of God is noted - but not valid and certainly not necessary. The God of the Bible does not require Jew hatred, sacrifices of lambs, jihad, hajj, throwing stones at a pillar, so-called 'martyrs', reverence for a long-dead murdering thief , turning towards a city in Saudi Arabia and neurotically washing body parts several times a day. 'Allah' is closer to Moloch if the results of 1400 years of islam are to be evaluated. In relation to the proposition that this is talking about the expansion of the universe - no mention is made of Dark Matter. If it's going to be a scientific treatise - why not mention the more pertinent facts? 3. Location of the stars So I swear by the locations of the stars (they traverse). [quran 56:75] God swore by the location of the Star, not by the stars themselves, in many verses in the Quran God swore by the thing it self except in this verse he swore by the location of the stars, because what star we see in the sky has already past that location by millions millions of miles..." Now Mr Slayhy loses all credibility and plumbs the depths of the ridiculous. Has Mr Slayhy not observed that even during the night - due to the rotation of the earth - the apparent location of the stars seems to change. The Koran is definitely NOT referring to the fact that what we see in the sky is the location of the stars as they were at a time in the past. i.e. 4 light years away - we see it as it was 4 years ago. A billion light years away - we see it as it was a billion years ago etc. Why would the Koran jump to such a conclusion and not fill in the blanks such as the speed of light, effects of gravity on light and other facts of relativity discovered by that Infidel Jew - Albert Einstein. 4. Big bang theory ."...Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them? And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? [quran 21: 30]..." Who is 'we'? God told us that the earth and the skies were joined and he parted them, the word used explained as tearing with great force. "5. The Rosette Nebula When the Heaven shall be cleft asunder, and become rose red, like stained leather. [quran 55: 37] Looking at the rosette Nebula, the verse in the Quran describes it exactly. look at the pictures in Wikipedia, cannot be seen by bare eyes. ..... " Mr Slayhy - look at other pictures on the net - we have green nebulas, blue ones, white ones, orange ones, pink ones, yellow ones, brown ones. Why choose just the red to back up your conviction that this is what is written in the Koran. Was the person who wrote the Koran discriminating against red/green colour blind people here? Surely it would have been more sensible to choose a blue nebula. 6. Giant star "When the sun wound round (and lost its light) and is overthrown.[quran 81: 1] Eventually the sun will be a large round red star, the description is part of the description of the end of time that follows this verse." Mr Slayhy seems to be impressed by the idea that people guessed that the sun, like a large fire in the sky, could eventually do what all fires do - burn out. Don't worry Mr Slayhy, Infidel scientists have worked it out for you - we have 5 billion years to go. 7. rounding the earth He (God) has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night roll over (to go in the day) and makes the day roll over (to go in the night). And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each is running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving. [quran 39: 5] The above explains the rounding of the earth." How does it explain the rounding of the earth, Mr Slayhy? If the earth was actually flat or any shape at all - the sun and moon would still appear to roll over it. 8. shape of earth And after that He Dahaha [egged] the earth; [quran 79: 30] ".....The shape of the Earth resembles the shape of an Ostrich Egg" An ostrich egg is far more elliptical than the earth. Our planet, while slightly elongated around the equator with respect to the axis of rotation - is more spherical than ovoid. So - if using analogies in the natural world , Allah should have 'mooned' the earth. "....Lane's Lexicon explains that the place where the ostrich lay its eggs is called Daha.Dahi refers to eggs, singular Dahyah - in North Africa they call Eggs "Dahi"..And the layers of Earth is similar to the layers of an egg, The Crust (The shell), The Core, (The Yolk), The Mantle (The white)" It's quite fascinating to watch how people with bipolar disorder - when going on a 'high' make associations between completely different things in order to convince other people of their worldview. People with 9. Sun and Moon And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun Siraj (a lamp with burning heat)? [quran 71: 16] "The sun is explained as Siraj (meaning a lamp with light and heat) and the Moon is explained as Noor meaning just light without heat (The sun is a source and the moon is a reflection" "...it is really puzzles me how did Muhammad know such information. a Bedouin living in the desert comes out with information not know to his people or to the Greek or Romans" Truly, Islamic science has no equals. You know - you must be right. I mean how could a bedouin in the harsh, dry desert possibly realise that the sun is very, very hot and gives out blinding light. Yet the moon reflects enough light to see by but not heat? Such remarkable, profound insight! By the way, was he the first arab to realise this? In your mind this discovery of his must truly surpass the insignificant discoveries of the ancient Greeks 2000 years earlier, no? "...I have plenty more, maybe 10 times more, if not more." yes, Mr Slayhy I'm sure you do - hence your confusion and your predilection for parading the obvious as some great Islamic revelation.
