That Light? It Needs to be Relit First.Reader comment on item: Blame the UN's Power on George H.W. Bush Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Feb 9, 2012 at 18:52 The United Nations, an oxymoron if ever there was one, continues in its cancerous ruin of the world's quest for peace for one very important reason; because they do not seek peace as a goal, but use the promise of peace as a means for domination and subordinates the 'cause of peace' to that end. Was that the original intent? One has to wonder that from its inception as an outgrowth of the failed League of Nations, it was merely an extension of a globalist concept of trying to attain a utopian world setting where the masses are subjugated to the elitist mentality of giving a sense of peace at the cost of liberty. Look around; and if we see that a similar ideology is in full subterfuge in the American Administration, it is for good reason. The American political processes that once were the driving force in an earlier America of a decidedly Reaganesque environment and which helped reshape the Cold War circumstances were left on the floor of the United Nations as Reagan's successor fomented the change of ideology of the American 'exceptionalism' so many talk about today. This was lost during the Clinton presidency because it could not be sold under a Republican term of office and President Clinton was able to take former President Bush Senior's infatuation with the U.N. and bring America under the auspices of NAFTA and GATT, the two very outrageous surrenders of American sovereignty. Secretary of State Clinton continues this while attempting the negotiating of ceding the Second Amendment rights to the world's control. Why is that not treason? Reagan's 'light on the hill' dream for America was but a brief flash of hope for American exceptionalism that is now all but lost in the political process we see today. How could it be that we have been brought to this place and nobody in political responsibility is able to own up to the losses? This portends to a greater situation; that it was planned to happen this way and a slim majority of the American people are allowing it to happen. Where is that 'light' today? Hey, no one has paid the bill of taking responsibility for it, now have they? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
