Romney and SpencerReader comment on item: Chris Christie's Islam Problem Submitted by Mark D. (United States), May 2, 2012 at 16:29 I was wondering if any of you agree with Spencer or Romney on the following http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=48675 Mitt Romney, by contrast, is sinking into the quicksand of politically correct half-truths and untruths about Islam and jihad. Recently he claimed that violent Islamic jihadists "take a very different view of Islam than the Muslims I know." He said that the Muslims he knew in Detroit were "peace-loving and America-loving individuals. I believe that very sincerely. I believe people of the Islamic faith do not have to subscribe to the idea of radical, violent jihadism." Romney has even gone so far as to claim that "there is, however, a movement in the world known as jihadism" that is "by no means a branch of Islam. It is instead an entirely different entity. In no way do I suggest it is a part of Islam." Unless Dr. Pipes disagrees, in which case I might change my mind, I am not sure that Jihad has nothing to do with Islam. Mark D. Mitt Romney is being his usual cautious self here, looking not to offend. Reader comments (40) on this item
