True, but leaders have gotten by with such outbursts and demeanorReader comment on item: Chris Christie's Islam Problem Submitted by stanley b (United States), May 4, 2012 at 17:04 Christie does tend to be explosive and brash (precisely what appeals to the Republicans to be a bulldog of sorts and not take any prisoners, while offensive to the cultured civilized left), but this characteristic does not preclude his nomination. One thinks of Arik Sharon, with his red faced outbursts and bad temper, he was famous for them. But that did not stop him from achieving high office and leading his political parties over the years. It is a shame that we are more concerned with outward trappings than content, but that is the nature of our society today. Not many people look in to a candidate beyond their looks and demeanor (or their color and gender) and a few headlines here and there (with the negative ones leaving a lasting impression).
