Turkish crashReader comment on item: Turkey's Military Capitulation Hits Home Submitted by Nazim (Egypt), May 8, 2012 at 13:21 Some people have very inverted sense of truth. When life is getting better for average citizen, they prefer actually that he suffers in misery of unemployment and state economy for their orthodoxy be correct, they sieve through every utterance of a politician to back up their truth. When there is a economic growth or clear freedoms in some areas and flourishing arts and civil society they will always deny they exist but note the oppression and arrests that continues from the same Deep State. However well Turkish economy is doing does not matter. Eventually the crash will happen as they do (if austerity in Europe does not help, it will eventually rebound on Turkish manufacturing) ,then they will shout how right they were about "islamofascist " Turkey. Problems of these sites that they see all things in society or economy through the lens of Islamic vs secular - some Manichaen struggle of Good vs Evil, which severely limits ability to analyze any situation in a ME country. And then they get all surprised. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
