Turkish in confused condition?Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Syrian Downing of a Turkish Warplane Submitted by Angel (Indonesia), Jul 11, 2012 at 17:13 Since Attaturk, Turkey changed from the largest islamic Ottoman emperium into a totally secular country tilted to the west but the culture of the community still bonding to islam heritage of Ottoman. Turkey, economically and military largely depends on the west but maybe still tilted to their muslim brothers culture of Middle East people which is Arab!! When it come to economy, military and technology, Turkey gladly welcomes western ideology. But when there is religious trouble come up in their muslim brother countries (Saudia, Iraq, Iran, Palestina, etc), those people who still hold on islamic traditional culture will rise up to be in their muslim brothers side against non muslims. That the religion of islam and islamic culture heritage are the only bond them to Middle East people. Unfortunately the random of hidden islamists from islamic culture heritage is now growing and starting to show their face, particularly under current regime. Of course most Turkish who lives in modern cities in Turkey like in Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, etc. actually prefer to tilt to the west, but what can they do when the Turkey political climate in the end fall into AKP party who prefer to tilt to their muslim brother countries? AKP party has a core of islamic way of life and smartly and systematically tries to change secularism into islamic country. When it comes to "The way of life and ideology" I am sure, step by step, slowly they will be no different to Iran, Saudia, or any country base on islamic way of life including in politic life. We know where it will end? We know what kind of state it will be? No more western tilt, even will harshly against the west from different "Way of life". What we do not know is when it will come to that end? But for sure they are already showing clinical signs of the government to tilt toward islamism. I hope Turkish will learn from Iran, not to learn on the pride of nationalism from how to hold religion and islamic "Way of life" to unity their citizen, because the community who does not want to follow such unity tool (Religion and culture) will be suppressed without mercy!!!
