Holding on To GolanReader comment on item: Netanyahu Again Offers the Golan Heights to Syria? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 15, 2012 at 15:50 Considering the source of the source, this is one of those stories of inventive hopefulness in which the current American Administrative actions are intent on inserting ideas by backdoor venues, ostensibly for a variety of reasons, though truthfulness apparently not being one of them. The reply from the PM Netanyahu's office appears to be more believable: "This was one of many initiatives proposed to Israel over the years. Israel has never accepted that proposal. It is an old and irrelevant proposal." Golan should no longer be considered a bargaining chip any more than seeing the results of what giving up Gaza did for the security of the southern border. Syria is in the throes of its own imminent failure to keep its own peace and now is becoming the center of the vortex the West is likely to beco0me immersed in. Relying upon a US State Dept evaluation has no more credibility than revealing the lack of ability to keep anyone safe, like in Libya.
