ProfilingReader comment on item: [Michael Smerconish and I Debate:] What Kind of Airport Profiling? Submitted by David Berens (United Kingdom), Jan 31, 2005 at 18:19 We were returning to England from a family holiday last Christmas, travelling with me was my wife and 6 year old daughter and 19 month old son.We were stopped by security just before boarding the flight and our hand luggage searched when I made it known to the security staff that I thought it absurd to target a family who clearly didn't fit any terrorist profile the response was that they had to search 20% of all passengers on a random basis! Profiling as carried out by the Israelis is the only sensible way to avoid the waste of valuable resources.
