Do not help Syrian rebels, not even if they are losingReader comment on item: Support the Syrian Rebels? Submitted by Henk Twerda (Netherlands), May 12, 2013 at 09:28 I disagree with the advice tot support the rebals in Syria as soon as they appear to be losing. I think allowing Assad to win is the best stategy, especiallly since his regime is weakened and is likely to need western (or even Israeli) help in the future to escape the status of an Iranian vasal. Another argument against helping the rebels is, that it will lighten the burden on Erdogans government in Turkey. When rebels are losing, Turkey will step up its efford to help the rebels. So, why should the west do anything to lighten the burden for Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Quatar? And we should not forget that the appearance of Assads victory can be only an appearance, that does not reflect the reality.
